470392 - Learning Collaborative to Support Current and Emerging Needs of the Public Health Workforce Initiative
Course Description
UF will create learning collaboratives (LCs) centered on topical areas identified as critical to the ongoing success of the Florida Centers for Independent Living (CILs) navigating the public health workforce initiative. Topical areas will include quality improvement; leadership, strategy, and marketing; housing assistance; staff burnout and compassion fatigue; and current and emerging public health needs. Topical areas are based on results of the previously conducted needs assessment study as well as the collective experience of the partnering CILs and UF faculty, but will remain fluid to meet the changing needs of the CILs.
Learner Outcomes

- Acquire skills to implement a facility policy change that adapts to current and emerging public health needs for people with disabilities in the COVID-19 era using the PDSA model for continuous improvement.
- Attend to staff burn-out and compassion fatigue in the COVID-19 era through the lens of trauma informed care approaches.
- Increase awareness of current and emerging public health needs for people with disabilities in the COVID-19 era, such as community mental health, public health emergency and disaster response, and public health communications.
- Recognize current and emerging housing assistance challenges and services for people with disabilities in the COVID-19 era, including IFAS/extension-related services, affordable housing, home modifications/aging-in-place, rentals, and healthy homes.
- Understand how to develop leadership, strategy, and marketing initiatives for the organization that consider the current and emerging public health landscape for people with disabilities in the COVID-19 era.
