This course is designed for personnel who have accrued significant work experience and knowledge in the solid waste industry. This course is approve as refresher training for operators at Solid Waste Facilities. Day 1 Topics includes: Solid Waste Management Basics and Regulations, Environmental Concerns with Waste Handling Facilities, Screening for Prohibited Materials, Managing Special Wastes, Health and Safety or if Day 2 is taken Compliance Inspections, Siting, Heavy Equipment, Transfer Station Operations/Layout and Materials Recovery Facilities Operations and Layout.

Course is approved through June 2026


Course Objective

At the completion of the training the student should be able to discuss the basics of solid waste &  operations; environmental concerns with waste handling facilities; screening for prohibited materials; managing special waste; transfer station operations and materials recovery facilities operations.

Participants must be present for entire course to receive continuing education credit and a Certificate of Attendance. There is not an exam requirement associated with the course.
