Summary
This program seeks to meet the requirements outlined in the Medication Access and Training Expansion (MATE) Act to provide training on the treatment and management of patients with opioid or other substance abuse disorders.
This course is approved by the Florida Board of Pharmacy for 8.0 contact hours to meet requirements pursuant to CHAPTER 64B16-26, Florida Statutes, and Rule 64B16-26.300, Florida Administrative Code.

Objectives
At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:
- Outline recommendations from evidence-based practice guidelines for opioid management for healthcare providers.
- Explain the importance of proper assessment in pain management and identify the consequences of untreated pain.
- List components of risk mitigation strategies in the practice of chronic pain management with specific focus on prescription drug monitoring programs, opioid risk assessment tools, and urinary drug screening tests.
- Recommend appropriate treatment options and monitoring strategies with opioids and nonopioids in chronic pain management.
- Formulate a general education outline and identify target factors which will be important for the patient during the opioid tapering process.
- Recognize available devices, candidates, and educational points associated with naloxone therapy in the prevention of substance abuse overdose.

Requirements for Successful Course Completion
In order to earn credit for this course, participants must watch the module lecture recordings and pass each corresponding module assessment with a score of 70% or higher. Two chances to pass each assessment will be given. If a passing score is not earned by the second attempt, the participant must re-enroll in the course. Upon successful completion of all coursework, participants must complete a course evaluation form.
