This course is approved as initial training for Class I, III and C&D solid waste operators. It includes a final exam with a 70% proficiency.

- Health and Safety
- Compliance Inspections

- Heavy Equipment
- Landfill Construction
- Basic Operations
- Leachate Management
- Gas Management
- Groundwater Monitoring
- Landfill Closures
Daily morning and afternoon breaks are scheduled.
Learner Outcomes
At the completion of the training the student should be able to discuss:
- Basics of solid waste & landfill operations
- Environmental concerns with waste handling facilities
- Screening for prohibited materials
- Managing special waste
- Fundamentals of landfill construction
- Leachate and gas management
- Groundwater monitoring issues
- Monitoring of landfill cell closures.
The students will also complete a final exam.
Participants must be present for entire course to receive continuing education credit and a Certificate of Completion. All participants take the final exam. Note - If participant is needing continuing education credits [CEUs] to maintain their active landfill operator training, then they should probably take the refresher training (no exam). If you are also needing to be a trained TS/MRF operator, then you probably should take Landfill Operations and WPF course.
This course is Days 1,2,3 of the three day course: Initial Training for Operators of Landfills and Waste Processing Facilities.
