Course agendaLearner Outcomes
This course is for persons who wish to design asbestos response actions for friable asbestos-containing building material (ACBM) in schools or public and commercial buildings. (This course is not required for designing small-scale, short-duration [SSSD] activities.)
The State of Florida now requires accreditation as an Asbestos Project Designer to become a Florida Licensed Asbestos Consultant. In addition F.S. 469.013 (1) (a) requires Asbestos Management Planners to have certification as an Asbestos Management Planner and Asbestos Project Designer. Accreditation in both disciplines is required to develop asbestos abatement schedules and operations and maintenance plans.
In Florida, Asbestos Project Designers must work under the direction of a Florida Licensed Asbestos Consultant (LAC).
Note: According to the Florida Asbestos Licensure Statute (F.S. 469.013(1)(a)) and FBPR: Asbestos Licensing Unit, all Asbestos Management Planners must complete both a two-day Asbestos Management Planning course and a three-day Asbestos Project Designer course. Accreditation in both disciplines is required to develop asbestos abatement schedules and operations and maintenance plans. Persons who plan to do asbestos work in other states should contact that state to verify that accreditation, licensure and other requirements are met.
