The Water Distribution Systems Operator Level Two and Three Training course is designed to help you prepare to advance your career in the operations of public water systems. This comprehensive course is for the student who desire to become a certified Water Distribution Operator by the State of Florida Operator Certification Program. Whether you are strengthening your foundational knowledge on distribution systems or preparing for the next level of your profession, this course includes the necessary curriculum a person would need to prepare for the state certification exam.
This is a five day, forty hour interactive course taught by experienced, industry qualified instructors. Topics such as systems operations, maintenance, safety protocols, and water quality management will be discussed in the class. Each student will be issued the Water Distribution System Operation and Maintenance, 7th edition manual, published by CSU Sacramento, as well as the course PowerPoints. Students will be given the opportunity to test their knowledge with interactive quizzes and practice exams throughout the course. A comprehensive mock final will be administered at the end of the course to help students assess their readiness for the state certification exam.
Learner Outcomes
At the conclusion of the course, the participant will:
- Explain the State and Federal water quality requirements for water distribution systems
- Describe how a water distribution system is designed and constructed
- Describe the operation and maintenance tasks of the water distribution system operator
- Be able to solve math problems required as a water distribution system operator
- Describe problems found in distribution systems and corrective action
- Apply proper disinfection practices to water systems
Notes
This class is approved by the FDEP for both Level 3 and 2, so no additional course is needed to sit for the Distribution Level 2 Exam, once the Level 3 license is issued.
Students, please be aware to qualify for the state exam you will need either a high school diploma or a Florida Dept of Education approved GED. Online GED's are not accepted by FDEP.
