Advanced Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) Refresher Test- Out
Welcome to UFTI-T2 Center’s Advanced TTC Refresher Test Out registration page. UFTI-T2 Center offers Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced TTC training in virtual, in-person, and hybrid settings on behalf of the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).
What is the Advanced Refresher Test-Out Process?
- FDOT has updated elements of the TTC/MOT Program. Effective October 1, 2026, eligible students may take the Advanced TTC Refresher Test-Out Exam without attending the Advanced Refresher Course.
- Students must first complete the Advanced TTC Refresher Test-Out Eligibility Screening Form to determine if they qualify for the Test-Out option.

- Applicants must hold a valid Advanced MOT/TTC certification and meet all eligibility requirements to participate.
- Students who are determined eligible will receive instructions on registration, identity verification, and testing procedures.

A laptop or desktop with a microphone, camera, speakers, and a high-speed Internet connection is required to attend this virtual course.

The registrant agrees to the virtual course requirements and temporary identification number (TIN) consent.
What to Expect

The Advanced TTC Refresher test out exam is taken online.

The exam is open book and proctored for the full two-hour testing period.

Students must keep their camera on and remain visible throughout the exam.

Results are issued by the MOT/TTC Administrator within 1-2 weeks, depending on grading volume.

A valid driver's license or state-issued ID is required for identity verification.

Your results cannot be released until the required identification information has been received and processed.

2. Login, TIN Consent & Experience Verification
- Hold a current FDOT Advanced TTC (AMOT) qualification; and have a minimum of 10 years of Advanced TTC qualification history
- Or have a minimum of 15 years of TTC experience in a responsible role involving the development, implementation, supervision, or management of TTC operations.

On the day of the course our team will welcome you and verify your identity by recording your driver’s license number for your TTC training record.

The registrant provides consent for UFTI-T2 Center, FDOT, and MOT/TTC Administrator to use the first 9 numbers of their driver’s license as a temporary identification number (TIN) for verification purposes and their TTC student profile. Any student who declines consent is not eligible to take the course.

3. During the exam

A microphone, camera, speakers, and a high-speed Internet connection are required. This is an interactive class; your camera must be on for the entire course.
4. Exam Process

The final exam will be proctored, open book, and open note; you may also use the PDF of the course books.

The exam is 60 multiple-choice questions and timed for two (2) hours.

Virtual courses offer an online exam.

Hybrid courses offer a paper & pencil exam with prior approval.
5. Certificate and Wallet Card

After the exam, our team will send your exam responses, evaluation, and attendance record to the MOT/TTC Administrator for grading. Please allow 2-3 weeks for the MOT/TTC Administrator to complete the grading process.

Students will receive an email with login instructions to see their results.

A passing grade of 70% will have a link to download a wallet card and full-size certificate.

To successfully complete the course, students must demonstrate proper flagging procedures and score a 70% or better on the proctored, time-limited (2-hour), final exam. With the advanced TTC qualification, students will be able to identify and apply the appropriate FDOT standard plan index to standard roadways by implementing appropriate work zone setup, maintenance, inspection, and removal.
Exam Enrollment and Experience Review Fees
1. Advanced TTC Test-Out Exam Enrollment Fee: $80
Available to individuals who meet the 10-year Advanced TTC qualification history requirement.
2. 15-Year Experience Review Fee: $50
Individuals seeking Test-Out eligibility through the 15-year Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) experience pathway must complete an Experience Review before registering for the exam.
Applicants must submit a current résumé or CV that clearly documents:
- Employer(s)
- Dates of employment
- Years of TTC experience
- Positions held
- Roles and responsibilities related to TTC operations
- Supervisory, management, implementation, or oversight experience
Upon approval of the Experience Review, applicants may register for the Advanced TTC Test-Out Exam.
Total Cost for the 15-Year Experience Pathway: $130
($80 Test-Out Exam Fee + $50 Experience Review Fee)
The Experience Review Fee is:
- Required prior to eligibility determination
- Non-refundable
- Non-transferable, regardless of eligibility outcome
If an applicant is determined ineligible through the Experience Review process, the $50 review fee will not be refunded. However, the $80 Test-Out Exam Fee may be transferred to another eligible TTC course in accordance with UFTI-T2 Center registration policies.
Who Should Attend
This is required for personnel with the responsibility or authority to plan, design, engineer, implement, maintain, or inspect traffic control through work zones on the state transportation network.

Prerequisites
- To be considered for the Test-Out option, applicants must:
- Hold a current FDOT Advanced TTC qualification at the time of exam; and
- Meet one of the following experience requirements:
- Have a minimum of 10 years of Advanced TTC qualification history.
- Have a minimum of 15 years of Temporary Traffic Control experience in a responsible role involving the development, implementation, supervision, or management of TTC operations.
