This 8-hour refresher course is designed for individuals who have previously completed the 24-hour or 40-hour HAZWOPER training and need to meet the annual refresher training requirement. The course reviews key topics in hazardous materials handling, including hazard recognition, personal protective equipment, decontamination, and emergency response procedures. Participants will also discuss changes in regulations, new technologies, and best practices in the field. Upon completion, students will receive a certificate of completion and be able to demonstrate a refreshed understanding of HAZWOPER principles and practices.
Learner Outcomes
Upon completing this course, you will be able to:
- Identify and recognize hazards associated with hazardous materials and waste operations
- Explain the importance of personal protective equipment (PPE) and demonstrate proper donning and doffing techniques
- Describe decontamination procedures and protocols for personnel and equipment
- Discuss emergency response procedures, including spill response and fire extinguishing methods
- Recognize and explain changes in HAZWOPER regulations and standards
- Apply best practices for safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials
- Demonstrate a refreshed understanding of HAZWOPER principles and practices, including site characterization, hazard assessment, and control techniques
