Course Description
This course is designed to equip people interested in, or already a part of, the racquets industry with the essential skills needed to market themselves effectively in today’s competitive job market, whether they want to get a racquet sports teaching position or move up the ladder to a position in leadership. After self-assessment and reviewing industry best practices, students will learn how to craft compelling resumes, cover letters, and portfolios, while also mastering the art of interviewing and social media management. The course features an interactive chatbot to provide real-time interview practice, allowing students to refine their communication and confidence in professional settings. Included for all students will be a personal consultation session with a respected industry professional to review their final submission.
This course complements the Director of Racquet Sports tract of study, which UF provides to the racquets industry with the support of the United States Tennis Association.
Students will have 60 days from enrollment to complete the course
Course Outline
- Self-Discovery & Personal Branding – Identify personal strengths, skills, and values to develop a strong professional identity and effectively communicate one’s unique value proposition.
- Professional Document Preparation – Create polished resumes, cover letters, and portfolios tailored to specific job opportunities within the industry.
- Interviewing & Communication Skills – Develop and refine interviewing techniques through real-time practice with an AI chatbot, as well as instructor feedback.
- Digital Presence & Networking – Learn best practices for social media management, online networking, and personal branding to enhance visibility and credibility in professional spaces.
