Summary

This Pharmacy-Based Test and Treat Recertification Training Program recertification course focuses on topics related to point-of-care testing and treatment for minor, non-chronic disease states between pharmacists and physicians in the state of Florida. This program requires participants to work through various complex pharmacy-based test and treat patient cases and to complete a final assessment that requires the learner to pass with a score of at least 70%.

A pharmacist providing services under this section must complete a 3-hour continuing education course approved by the board addressing issues related to minor, nonchronic health conditions each biennial licensure renewal in addition to the continuing education requirements under s. 465.009. This program is approved by the Florida Board of Pharmacy to meet these requirements.

Time to Complete: All coursework must be completed within 24 weeks from the date of registration or before date of UAN expiration, 04/29/2028, whichever comes first. This course will no longer be eligible for CE credit after 04/29/2028.


Objectives

At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:

  1. Identify patients who should receive treatment for minor, non-chronic health conditions such as Conjunctivitis, Covid-19, and HIV post-exposure prophylaxis in the pharmacy setting.
  2. Perform patient assessment of patients with Conjunctivitis, Covid-19, and HIV post-exposure prophylaxis, and cold sores including identification of “red flags” indicating more severe illness and appropriate actions.
  3. Conduct appropriate point-of-care testing for Conjunctivitis, HIV post-exposure prophylaxis, and Covid-19 in the pharmacy setting.
  4. Select safe and effective treatments for Conjunctivitis, HIV post-exposure prophylaxis, and Covid-19, in the pharmacy setting.
  5. List contraindications to treatment and exclusion criteria and identify when referral to a physician is necessary for testing and treating Conjunctivitis, HIV post-exposure prophylaxis, Covid-19 in the pharmacy setting.

Requirements for Successful Course Completion

In order to earn credit for this course, participants must complete all course case study quizzes and achieve a final overall score of 70% or higher. Two chances to pass each quiz/assessment will be given. If a passing score is not earned by the second attempt, the participant must re-enroll in the course. Upon successful completion of all coursework, participants must complete a course evaluation form.


Continuing Pharmacy Education Requirements

Pharmacy continuing education credit will be earned based on completion of this activity. To receive continuing education credit, your completion must be verified, and a program evaluation must be completed and submitted at the end of the program. Credit will be issued through the CPE Monitor and CE Broker websites.

Florida consultant pharmacist (or Florida pharmacist) numbers, NABP e-Profile ID numbers and participant’s Month and Day of Birth are required for credit issuance. UF CPE is not responsible for unissued education credits where the required information is either omitted or submitted incorrectly. UF CPE will contact registrants once by email to attempt to obtain missing or invalid information.
