Summary

This program will provide pharmacists with the tools to use pharmacogenetics in psychiatric care. An overview of relevant medications supported by a high level of evidence will be provided, including primary literature and published clinical pharmacogenetic guideline recommendations. Attendees will gain practice applying pharmacogenetics to several patient cases resembling real-world scenarios.

This course is approved by the Florida Board of Pharmacy for 1.0 live general hours to meet pharmacist renewal requirements outlined in Rule 64B16-26.103.

Objectives

At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:

Apply clinical pharmacogenetic guideline recommendations for CYP2D6 and CYP2C19 to antidepressant prescribing.
Describe how other clinical factors influence the application of pharmacogenetics in psychiatry.
