777897 - Suicide to Hope (S2H): 8-Hour Master Training
Course Description
Suicide to Hope (S2H). S2H is a one-day, 8 hour standardized and manualized curriculum for clinicians who are, or would like to be, involved in growth and recovery work with clients with ongoing suicidal ideation. You will learn the Pathway to Hope (PaTH), a growth and recovery therapy framework, that can wrap around any guiding theory. PaTH is NOT a crisis intervention. PaTH is NOT a suicide intervention. PaTH is NOT for persons with imminent risk of suicide. PaTH is a therapeutic framework to be used with clients that are currently “safe for now” from suicide, and can engage in growth and recovery therapy work.
Effectively working toward growth and recovery over time requires a baseline understanding of “stuckness,” or rather where persons-at-risk are “stuck” in their suicide experiences. There is wisdom and insight to be gained from one’s stuckness, and going through it enables one to more clearly identify a core and underlying issue that has previously gone unmet. s2H participants learn how to apply the PaTH model in their clinical settings, with their guiding theories, and collaborate with other providers to improve the overall quality of care for their clients. The 8-hour training is highly interactive (i.e. group discussion, simulations, and reflection). A more detailed description of this training (Suicide to Hope: A Recovery and Growth Workshop), incorporating feedback supporting its value, is available at www.livingworks.net
The training is open to current UF graduate students of counselor education, graduates of the program, and Master Clinicians in the community.
