Course Description

This course is designed to assist student through the early process of becoming a pharmacist by providing workshops, training, mentoring, and opportunities related to the pharmacy career. The GATOR Pharmacy Early Assurance Program is designed for highly qualified undergraduate students to offer them the opportunity to streamline their path into Pharmacy School. 

Learner Outcomes

Program compliance and completion:

To maintain enrollment in PEAP, students must:

  1. Enroll at UF at least part-time through the spring term prior to entering the Pharm.D. program.
  2. Have a minimum of a C in all pharmacy prerequisite courses
    • No more than 2 withdrawals
  3. No more than 2 grades lower than "C" on transcript
  4. All prerequisites must be completed at the institution of origin or at UF when courses are not offered at home institution. This is with the exception of Advance Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB) and/or Dual Enrollment credits
  5. Complete pharmacy prerequisites prior to Fall matriculations
    • (e.g.: if entering the Pharm.D. program in Fall 2025, all prerequisites must be completed by summer 2025)
  6. Students must have completed at least the following courses prior to applying to UF Pharm.D. admission:
    • Biology I & II
    • Chemistry I & II
    • Calculus with Analytical Geometry or Statistics
    • Organic Chemistry I (preferred)
  7. Maintain an overall science GPA of 3.0
  8. Demonstrate a knowledge of Pharmacy as a career and/or obtain Pharmacy-related experience by the completion of the program
  9. Attend all PEAP workshops and advising sessions unless excused.
  10. Meet with the Pharm.D. student mentor as requested
  11. Students that have completed PEAP must apply via PharmCAS by the first week of September in the application cycle for which they plan to enroll.

Prerequisites

  • Students must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher at the time of their application submission and have at least one year remaining in their undergraduate studies.
  • Have taken General Biology (BSC1010C) and General Chemistry I (CHM1045I).
  • Plan to apply to the UF College of Pharmacy within three years.
