Summary
This course is designed to prepare pharmacists for the responsibility of counseling and educating patients and caregivers on signs of opioid overdose and naloxone use in order to improve patient access to naloxone. This program will describe the national overdose concerns associated with opioids, review proper administration of the available naloxone formulations, and describe the current naloxone access laws in place.
This course is approved by the Florida Board of Pharmacy for 3.0 contact hours to meet requirements pursuant to CHAPTER 64B16-26, Florida Statutes, and Rule 64B16-26.300, Florida Administrative Code.

Upon completion of this module, you should be able to:
- Describe the current national overdose concerns associated with opioids
- Identify signs and symptoms of opioid overdose
- Identify proper candidates for naloxone
- List and describe the available naloxone formulations including proper administration techniques
- Demonstrate the ability to properly counsel patients and caregivers on naloxone use
- Describe the current naloxone access laws and how these access laws are directed at improving patient access to naloxone
Requirements for Successful Course Completion
In order to earn credit for this course, participants must pass a final assessment with a score of 70% or higher. Two chances to pass each assessment will be given. If a passing score is not earned by the second attempt, the participant must re-enroll in the course. Upon successful completion of all coursework, participants must complete a course evaluation form.
